Kidneys control many functions in your body that you are not aware of! They are working day and night without you realizing it…
What is CKD?
Kidney failure is recognized by doctors with specific lab values. There are 5 stages of kidney disease.
At FVNP we treat all stages of Acute Kidney Disease and Chronic Kidney Disease. We work with our patients to make changes to protect their kidneys and help preserve kidney function as much and as long as possible. These changes may be in medications, lifestyle or identifying and referring to other specialties that may be contributing to reduced kidney function. Sometimes, regardless of making changes, patients will progress to a stage where they need Dialysis. When this happens, our providers partner with area dialysis care facilities to replace kidney function. Patients do not need to change providers if they start receiving dialysis as their providers will continue to treat them at the dialysis centers! Many patients continue to live an active and very functional life while receiving dialysis. If patients choose not to receive dialysis, our providers will also work with them to help them receive comfortable and dignified care for the remainder of their life.
